WORDfest 2017: New Faces of Fiction with Emily Bullock, Umi Sinha & Hannah Vincent

Share

Three exceptional debut novelists gather for Crawley’s WORDfest 2017 to discuss their writing and inspirations.

Emily Bullock’s THE LONGEST FIGHT is set in 1950s London amidst the gritty and violent world of boxing. This beautiful and brutal debut is the story of one man’s struggle to overcome the mistakes and tragedies of his past.

Umi Sinha’s finely wrought epic of love and loss, BELONGING, takes us from the darkest days of the British Raj through to the aftermath of the First World War, and tells the interwoven story of three generations and their struggles to understand and free themselves from a troubled history steeped in colonial violence.

Steeped in the dry heat of a South African summer, Hannah Vincent’s ALARM GIRL seamlessly interweaves the voices of 11-year-old Indigo and her mother, and beautifully captures the human desire to belong: in a family, in a country, in your own skin.
