Marking the first meeting of a new kind of book club, Hannah Vincent will read from and discuss her debut novel, Alarm Girl, at Read and Sip – an evening of informal wine tasting and book discussion at Brighton’s The Cyclist Refreshment Rooms.

Steeped in the dry heat of a South African summer, Alarm Girl is a keen and touching debut, seamlessly interweaving the voices of Indigo and her mother, and beautifully capturing the human desire to belong: in a family, in a country, in your own skin. We Love This Book describe Alarm Girl as a ‘sensitively written’ and ‘heart-rending tale of a young girl trying to make sense of her life while accepting loss and change.’

Tickets for Read and Sip cost £15 and include plenty of wine, accompanying snacks and a chance to hear readings from Hannah, as well as to discuss the novel with her and other guests. To book your place email: [email protected].

Copies of Alarm Girl are available at a 20% discount ahead of the book club event, via Myriad ([email protected]), City Books in Hove and Kemptown Bookshop.

The Read and Sip book club series will continue on October 28th when the selected title is Layla by Myriad author Nina de la Mer.
