Jon Crail is the Senior Manager for Special Projects at the FDI World Dental Federation located in Geneva, Switzerland.
He spent eight years developing and managing community health and development projects with Amigos de las Américas, an American non-governmental organisation that works in Latin America, most recently as Regional Director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Crail has a degree in political science from Kalamazoo College and a Master of Science in Health, Community and Development from the London School of Economics, where he graduated with distinction and won the Himmelweit Prize.
Crail is also the founder and director of Digital Roots, a non-governmental organisation that empowers communities around the world to investigate, document and share their culture and history by using digital technologies to create virtual museums. He led the FDI Data Mirror project, consisting of a tool that dynamically displays interactive global oral health data (much of which is from The Oral Health Atlas) online. Crail is an author of the recent FDI publication The Oral Health Atlas and has facilitated the translation of the atlas into Chinese and Japanese.
